PostSecret

First, I want to start off by apologizing for this weeks response being so late. Last week was Thanksgiving (I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with family) and Black Friday. I spent my holiday working retail with little sleep so that is why this post is so late, please forgive me. This week, or should I say last week, our prompt option was a little different. We were given the reading assignment titled, "Who are the people whose digital presence or identity you most admire? Your favorite Instagram/Snapchat/Twitter feeds?" We then had to pick two of them and answer a few questions. The assigned prompt this week was titled, "Climb up your own creative family tree." This creative family tree's purpose was to show me what different social media sites and pages I look at and where I get my inspiration for my own posts. I found this tree to be very difficult and exhausting since I try to be original when it comes to creating my posts. I found this w...

Dating a Professor...

This week we had the option of choosing between two prompts: "Write something that would get you fired, expelled, or disowned. (Scribble over it so nobody can ever read it.)" or "Write a letter to someone you hate. Try to make them laugh." After reading this week's prompt choices I found myself struggling to come up with an idea for either prompt. I do not think it is right to hate people and I try not to hate anyone so I thought it was obvious that my choice for this week's prompt would be, "Write something that would get you fired, expelled, or disowned. (Scribble over it so nobody can ever read it.)" Once I chose, "Write something that would get you fired, expelled, or disowned. (Scribble over it so nobody can ever read it.)" I had to think about what I could write about for some time. I didn't want to go overboard with what I was writing because, even though this is fake, I didn't want my readers to think too harsh of though...

I was a Mother at 18.

This week we had the option to choose between two prompts: "Make up a really good lie about yourself to tell a stranger. Invent a story to back it up." or "Make a mixtape for someone who doesn't know you." As usual, I found both prompts intriguing and I am interested to hear the different mixtapes people made if anyone in class chose that prompt, but I chose the prompt "Make up a really good lie to tell a stranger. Invent a story to back it up." My lie is, I was a mother at 18. At 18, you think you know everything. You tell your parents, "I'm legally an adult, you can't tell me what to do!" If it is not that then it is something similar. You think you are your own boss and are mature enough to make your own decisions. I also thought this at 18, or at least I did until I was forced to make decisions for someone other than myself. Someone who was helpless, who relied on me to care for them and have their best interests in mind. At...

My Florida Adventure

We were asked to create a location based narrative and to get as creative as we wanted with the only restriction being that we could not use GoogleMaps. I chose to use Instagram as the medium for my location based narrative. By using Instagram I chose to post pictures of different places or myself at different places and tag the location so my readers wouldn't get confused as to where I was talking about in the story. Then I would tell the story through the caption, with the pictures helping show the location, along with what I was doing at that location. I would also sometimes mention the location in the caption. My location based narrative tells the story of a vacation I took to Florida and the different adventures and activities I experienced while in Florida. It focuses on various parts of Florida, that's what makes the location in this story important.  I told the story on my Instagram account I made for this class. I will provide the link to both my Instagram ac...

Music in Private vs. Public

This week we had the option of picking between two prompts: "Take a walk on your lunch break. List everything you hear, see, or think" or "What do you do in private that could be done in public? Why don't you?" Both prompts struck me as interesting but since I usually do not take lunch breaks I chose the prompt titled, "What do you do in private that could be done in public? Why don't you?" Before I just posted something and typed up this blog I had to stop and think, and this really had me thinking. There are a lot of things that I do in private that I know a lot of other people do too. I wanted this to be something meaningful though and not something cliche and stupid like blow your nose or take selfies (which I will admit, I do both of those things too). After some thought I realized what it was I do in private and not in public. I also realized I usually do this alone and not in front of my roommate too. I tend to listen to music in private...
