"Small Town Girl with Big Dreams"

This week we had the option between the two prompts titled, "10 things I probably think about more than the average person" or "Describe what you do in six words." I really like this week's prompts and can answer both but I do not feel comfortable sharing with the world what I think about more than usual. Therefore this week's chosen prompt is, "Describe what you do in six words."

Once I chose this prompt I immediately thought of my social media bios. I try to get creative with them since people tend to go read them and base first impressions and judgements about who you are as a person off of them first before actually meeting you face to face in today's society.

I am private on all of my personal social media accounts except for my accounts I have for my classes, those ones are public. Being private means that most of my information is not accessible unless you follow me and all that can be seen is my name and bio. The bio I chose to use for this prompt was my personal twitter bio. It reads, "Small town girl with big dreams," and coincidentally happened to be six words.

I think these six words describe me perfectly. I come from a small town that few know the location of and do things people never would expect. I have competed in cheerleading at a national level twice since coming to college. I love to travel and have lived in Florida the past three summers which surprises some since I am super family orientated. I am a certified scuba diver that plans to continue on with gaining her certifications. This is surprising because the last time my family took a vacation to the beach was when I was young and in second grade and I do not even remember stepping foot onto the beach. Other than that I would go on vacations with friends that were kind enough to take me.

My big dreams can sometimes be hard to process because, I will admit they can be unrealistic, but I think everyone should dream big. I hope to one day have five children. Yes you read that right, FIVE children. I also hope to have five dogs, live on an island, have a farm house, and write a book. I know some of these conflict with one another but they're my dreams and no one can tell me what I'm allowed to dream, no matter how big or crazy or ridiculous those dreams may be to someone else.

PostSecret

First, I want to start off by apologizing for this weeks response being so late. Last week was Thanksgiving (I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday filled with family) and Black Friday. I spent my holiday working retail with little sleep so that is why this post is so late, please forgive me. This week, or should I say last week, our prompt option was a little different. We were given the reading assignment titled, "Who are the people whose digital presence or identity you most admire? Your favorite Instagram/Snapchat/Twitter feeds?" We then had to pick two of them and answer a few questions. The assigned prompt this week was titled, "Climb up your own creative family tree." This creative family tree's purpose was to show me what different social media sites and pages I look at and where I get my inspiration for my own posts. I found this tree to be very difficult and exhausting since I try to be original when it comes to creating my posts. I found this w...

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words or Sometimes About 40.

This week we were asked to pick from two prompts titled, "Write a fan letter" or "What are the secrets of your trade? What would you lose by sharing them? What would you gain?" Instead of picking between the two prompts suggested I chose the prompt titled, "Pictures can say whatever we want them to say. (Come up with your own captions.)" This page shows six columns. The first three are triangles and the last three are circles. I answered the first row then had two friends answer the next two rows. The two friends I had answer the bottom two rows are engineers and I think some of their answers help show that. I found when I asked them to answer all they could think of were math equations used to solve for triangles and circles. I find the different perspectives very interesting. I chose to make this collaborative because we have been doing collaborative work in class. By working on a collaborative social media presentation, a collaborative narrative, an...

I was a Mother at 18.

This week we had the option to choose between two prompts: "Make up a really good lie about yourself to tell a stranger. Invent a story to back it up." or "Make a mixtape for someone who doesn't know you." As usual, I found both prompts intriguing and I am interested to hear the different mixtapes people made if anyone in class chose that prompt, but I chose the prompt "Make up a really good lie to tell a stranger. Invent a story to back it up." My lie is, I was a mother at 18. At 18, you think you know everything. You tell your parents, "I'm legally an adult, you can't tell me what to do!" If it is not that then it is something similar. You think you are your own boss and are mature enough to make your own decisions. I also thought this at 18, or at least I did until I was forced to make decisions for someone other than myself. Someone who was helpless, who relied on me to care for them and have their best interests in mind. At...
