Favorite Method(s) of Procrastination

This week we had the option to pick between the two prompts titled, "Describe your favorite method of procrastination. Can you come up with a more productive one?" or "Chart your latest project against this shape. In what ways does it match? In what ways does it differ?" As per usual, both prompts sparked my interest but when it came down to picking one I chose the one titled, "Describe your favorite method of procrastination. Can you come up with a more productive one?"

One of my most common methods of procrastination, like many of my peers, is my phone. Social media, texting, and music are my main problems when it comes to turning to my phone instead of my schoolwork or whatever else I am supposed to be doing.

I would say my next most common method is food. When I am working on something I am constantly thinking about everything in my kitchen cupboards and refrigerator. I am constantly snacking and it drives me crazy. I should probably weigh like 500 pounds from all the junk I eat while stressing over assignments.

Another method is watching TV or music videos. At the beginning of the semester my roommate got a beautiful Samsung smart TV. It connects to the internet so we put our Netflix and Hulu accounts on it and it is so hard to resist when I am sitting at the kitchen table doing my work with this giant TV constantly staring at me. I've come to realize that I get more done if I just pull YouTube up on it and let music videos play through, but even then I get distracted watching them.

The methods listed above happen to me constantly. If I am not watching something on TV then I am watching it on my laptop. This next method tends to happy every time I go home and plan to do homework (it never actually gets done). This method is named Grayson Gunner. Grayson is my dog. He is a Yorkshire Terrier and is the cutest little thing ever. When I go home I just feel as if I must give him all my attention since I am always away at school. This also happens with my cat, Penelope, but mainly with my dog.

I do not think I have one favorite method of procrastination, maybe my dog because he lays with me and watches movies and naps and is just a pretty relaxing guy. If I had to choose my favorite method for when I am at school I would say it is watching Netflix on our Samsung TV. I chose that because when I get engrossed into a movie or series it is like a small escape from reality for just a little.

My better procrastination method would have to be doing house work. I find myself doing this on the weekends when I think I have all the time in the world but sometimes laundry can consume an entire day in itself! When I do this I always fib to myself and tell myself that these were things that needed to be done right away. For instance, doing my laundry, doing the dishes, grocery shopping, and just cleaning in general.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words or Sometimes About 40.

This week we were asked to pick from two prompts titled, "Write a fan letter" or "What are the secrets of your trade? What would you lose by sharing them? What would you gain?" Instead of picking between the two prompts suggested I chose the prompt titled, "Pictures can say whatever we want them to say. (Come up with your own captions.)" This page shows six columns. The first three are triangles and the last three are circles. I answered the first row then had two friends answer the next two rows. The two friends I had answer the bottom two rows are engineers and I think some of their answers help show that. I found when I asked them to answer all they could think of were math equations used to solve for triangles and circles. I find the different perspectives very interesting. I chose to make this collaborative because we have been doing collaborative work in class. By working on a collaborative social media presentation, a collaborative narrative, an...

I was a Mother at 18.

This week we had the option to choose between two prompts: "Make up a really good lie about yourself to tell a stranger. Invent a story to back it up." or "Make a mixtape for someone who doesn't know you." As usual, I found both prompts intriguing and I am interested to hear the different mixtapes people made if anyone in class chose that prompt, but I chose the prompt "Make up a really good lie to tell a stranger. Invent a story to back it up." My lie is, I was a mother at 18. At 18, you think you know everything. You tell your parents, "I'm legally an adult, you can't tell me what to do!" If it is not that then it is something similar. You think you are your own boss and are mature enough to make your own decisions. I also thought this at 18, or at least I did until I was forced to make decisions for someone other than myself. Someone who was helpless, who relied on me to care for them and have their best interests in mind. At...
